The Pyrenees and
Spa Towns

The close proximity of the Central Pyrenees [50km], offers huge scope for exploring this beautiful landscape whether on skis, by foot, bike or car.

Some of the highlights include:

The Pic du Midi
With its Observatory dating back to 1880 and superb panoramic views.

Col du Tourmalet
The highest pass in the French Pyrenees for road transport made famous as part of the route of the Tour du France since 1910.

Gavarnie and its Cirque
A 1500m high natural amphitheatre scoured out by glaciers and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its breath-taking natural beauty.

For something a little more relaxing try one of the eight spa towns within the Haute Pyrenees. Our closest is the Pyrenee's oldest baths at Bagneres de Bigorre [45km] or try Eugenie les Bains [50km] or Luchon de Bigorre [75km].

Auch [60km]
Provincial capital of the Gers, Auch is a beautiful place to explore with some fine architecture and great restaurants. Its magnificent Renaissance cathedral, Sainte Marie, is a World Heritage Site. Auch has connections with the legendary captain of the Musketeers d'Artagnan and statues of him can be found around the cathedral.

Pau [45km]
Famed for its elegant gardens, boulevards, chateau and exceptional panorama of the Pyrenees, Pau is a bustling town full of vibrant cafes and restaurants as well as being a great place to shop. The city also hosts the famous annual motor racing Pau Grand Prix which is held over two weekends in mid May. The course runs through the narrow twisting streets, Monte Carlo style, and is a real spectacle.

Lourdes [50KM]
In the heart of the Pyrenees, Lourdes is one of the most famous Catholic shrines in the world, attracting over 6 million visitors each year. As well as being interesting in its own right it is also a perfect place from which to explore some of the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Biarritz and The Atlantic Coast  [170KM]
This stylish resort is less than a 2 hour drive away. Biarritz enjoys a certain sense of faded gentility but is also very chic, with some fabulous beach and coastal walks. Nearby is the quieter but stunning St Jean de Luz with its magnificent old harbour quarter with half-timbered mansions.
